FIBER ARTS AND ALPACA TOUR TO PERU 2008
We are taking registrations now for this fabulous adventure, from April 25 to May 9, 2008.
During this trip, we will have the chance to appreciate the most diverse and beautiful scenery in Southern Peru, experiencing at the same time the characteristics of fiber art in each region along our way.
What is outstanding about this itinerary is the fact that we will be visiting four distinctive regions unique to Peru and its geography: We will explore the coastal desert where precipitation is less than an inch a year; the beautiful and productive highlands where the Australian eucalyptus has found an excellent environment in which to flourish; the Altiplano home to the alpacas and its cousins and to the highest navigable lake in the world; and finally the tropical forest of the Amazon, the land of the most diversified flora and fauna in the world.
In each region, we will explore the characteristics of its fiber arts by visiting artisans in their studios, viewing ancient textiles at the museums and shopping the local markets for modern treasures.
Together with the fiber arts, we will delight ou r taste buds with the sybaritic treasure troves we will encounter along the way. Peru is considered today one of the culinary capitals of the world, and we have made sure that we will visit the best restaurants each city has to offer.
