Knitting Tip
Provisional CO is an excellent way to have open stitches when you need them to work in the other direction. And the easiest way to provisional CO is as follows:
Provisional Cast On
CO using a smooth waste yarn. Knit plain for a couple of rows. Then knit ONE row with smooth, satin ribbon that is about 1/8" wide and in a contrasting color. Cut the ribbon leaving a long tail. Then begin the first pattern knit row above the ribbon row. When it is time to release the stitches, pull out the ribbon or pick up the stitches above the ribbon by picking up the back loop of working yarn on the wrong side onto a needle-then pull out the ribbon.

A lot has been going on in the last month. Apart from the overwhelming heat, everything seems to be cool!
New patterns are set to be released soon, at least a dozen new designs will be posted on the fashion art section of the web site, more locations are hosting our workshops and we are working on a new adventure-a fiber arts educational cruise from Buenos Aires to Santiago de Chile for the Fall of 2008! We will be releasing the details on this new adventure shortly.
FIBER ARTS EXCURSION TO PERU AND ALPACA FIESTA NOVEMBER 2007
This excursion is promising to be an extremely fun and interesting one. The participants are a heterogeneous group of people with similar interests. Dick, an alpaca breeder and his two very successful sons Rick and Paul are joining us for part of the trip. Then there are Diane and Heide, two returning travelers who are being joined by Heide's sister-in-law Natalie. Barbara, a renowned needlepoint designer has invited her son David to join her on the trip. Three long-time friends from South Dakota, Marilyn, Joy and Judith are using this opportunity to enjoy each other's company. And last, but not least, Darwin and Doris, and Paul and Judy, two couples and alpaca breeders will also be part of the group. Paul and Judy are joining the group in celebration of their fiftieth anniversary. Congratulations to them!
Unfortunately Ingrid and Karin, a mother and daughter team had to cancel their participation because of an illness in their immediate family. We will continue to hope that soon they will be receiving positive results from the treatment.
The tour will take place from November 4 through 19, 2007. To view full details, itinerary and to register please visit our website. Because of a cancellation, we still have 5 places open for the tour. If you know of anyone that might enjoy this exciting opportunity, please feel free to forward this email to them... I am sure they will thank you for it.

We are taking registrations now for this fabulous adventure. During this trip, we will have the chance to appreciate the most diverse and beautiful scenarios in Southern Peru, experiencing at the same time the characteristics of fiber art in each region along our way.
What is outstanding to this itinerary is the fact that we will be visiting four distinctive regions unique to Peru and its geography: We will explore the coastal desert where precipitation is less than an inch a year; the beautiful and productive highlands where the Australian eucalyptus has found an excellent environmet in which to flourish; the Altiplano home to the alpacas and its cousins and to the highest navigable lake in the world; and finally the tropical forest of the Amazon, the land of the most diversified flora and fauna in the world.
