PERU TOURS

Helen Hamann has been guiding textile, alpaca and fiber arts tours to Peru for several years.  Her knowledge of the country, its culture, its history and the exquisite joie de vivre of its people, allows Helen to offer a unique and specialized view of this fascinating country.
Helen also has been working with alpaca and manufacturing alpaca products for more than thirty years.  Her products and designs have been sold in markets around the world.
She also started an educational program more than thirty years ago to train Peruvian women in intricate knitting techniques to allow them to earn a decent living and support their families with dignity.
At one point, she employed more than 400 women enthusiastically knitting to fulfill orders that then were shipped to many specialized markets.
Today, apart from guiding the tours, Helen runs a successful small business, designing knitwear, teaching knitting techniques and selling her own brand of alpaca and pima cotton yarns, patterns, knitting kits and yes, still some exclusively hand-knitted garments which satisfy hundreds of customers each year.
